The Worlds Airlines contains 285 countries (past & present) and regions. To keep thing simple I have split the world into 4 regions, this is broadly based on the United Nations geoscene. This system divides the countries of the world into regional and subregional groups.

The 4 regions are:

Africa
Eastern Africa : Middle Africa : Northern Africa : Southern Africa : Western Africa

Americas
Northern America : Southern America : Central America : Caribbean

Europe
European Union : East Europe (North Asia (the Asian portion of Russia)) is included in this subregion : Northern Europe : Southern Europe : Western Europe

Rest of World
Central Asia : Eastern Asia : Southern Asia : South-Eastern Asia
Western Asia : Oceania : Melanesia : Micronesia : Polynesia
