[WIEN claimed to have been the oldest scheduled airline in Alaska having being formed as NORTHERN AIR TRANSPORT in 1924. Renamed to WIEN AIRWAYS of ALASKA shortly after to WIEN ALASKA AIRLINES in 1935. During this period FERGUSON AIRWAYS was aquired (1949) and BYERS AIRWAYS in 1956. In 1968, WIEN ALASKA AIRLINES merged with NORTHERN CONSOLIDATED AIRLINES to form WIEN CONSOLIDATED AIRLINES. This airline was renamed to WIEN AIR ALASKA in in 1973 and eventually the name was shortened to just WIEN]
