♦ VASP was founded on 04Nov1933 by the State of Sao Paulo and operations began on 12Nov1933. In 1939, VASP bought Aerolloyd Iguassu. In 1962, NAB merged and in the same year, VASP became a national airline when it acquired Lóide Aéreo Nacional, and with it its license to operate nationwide. Threat of grounding by Brazilian CAA in 2004. Scheduled services suspended on 27Jan2005 but charter flights were allowed, but by Dec2007, the once-proud company had stopped flying altogether
