– [Ryan Air (ii) was founded in 1953 by Wilfred Ryan as UNALAKLEET AIR TAXI. Certified air carrier that was renamed to Ryan Air (i) in 1979. Acquired MUNZ NORTHERN AIRLINES in 1983 and EXECUTIVE CHARTER SERVICE in 1985. Was a Wien Air Alaska affiliate (1979>) and Alaska Airline (1983>). FAA suspended servcies in 1988 after a Beech 1900 crash. Ryan resigned and the airline resumed limited operations but was again grounded. Restarted as Arctic Transportation Services in 1988 & renamed back to Ryan Air (ii) on 18Jan2010]
