UMCA was formed by Gonzalo Mejia in 1931 as a Pan AM subsiduary. Unusually passengers were carried first and mail added in 1933. During it’s history, the airline never owned any aircraft or employed any staff (Pan Am supplied). In 1947 Pan Am purchased the carrier entirely and ceased operations in 1961
