TUS Airways was the first Cypriot airline founded since the dissolution of Cyprus Airways. The airline was established in Jun2015 and was granted its AOC in Oct2015. The carrier started flights from Larnaca on 14/Feb/2016. The airline intended to continue normal operations until the end of the 2019 summer season, with only charter flights being operated during the winter months and the airline was planning to re brand by summer 2020. In Oct2019, it was announced the airline would be rebranding as Ela Airways, a LCC scheduled carrier (effective Jun2020). Unfortunately the plan was abandoned. TUS Airways suspended operations on 26Dec2019 and its AOC was suspended in Sep20220. It now plans to re-launch in 2021 as Ela Air Cyprus (now unsure if this will happen). It has been confirmed that the name TUS Airways will remain, as the airline will resume operations in 3Q2021, after being recertified in 2Q2021
