♦ Trans-Union was formed in 1966 as a subsidiary of Societe Heli-Union, and based on a reconstruction of Air Esteril, which itself was taken over by Air Continent in 1963. Trans-Union was originally formed to operate freight charter flights and from 1967 to 1970 operated night delivery newspaper flights under contract to Air France. In May 1969 passenger charter operations were added to the company’s activities. The newspaper contract, together with the DC-6Bs used to operate it, were taken over by Europe Aero Service charter operations. Early in 1972 it was announced that an unidentified group were negotiating to take over Trans-Union. Following reorganisation, the airline will operate in a new role, such as long-haul inclusive-tour flights using long-range jets. Heli-Union will retained a 35 per cent interest in the airline, which continued to operate under the name Trans-Union
