SilkAir was founded in 1975 as Tradewinds Charters. Scheduled services were introduced as Tradewinds Airlines on 21Feb1989. Renamed on 01Apr1992 to present name. Singapore Airlines’ regional arm, SilkAir, will undergo a significant upgrading of its cabin products as part of plans to eventually merge with Singapore Airlines (SIA).
