
Marcus Wallenburg formed Svensk Interkontinental Luftrafik, A.B. (SILA) in Stockholm on 09/Jun/1943. In Aug1946, SILA became the Swedish part of SAS
[ – SAS was formed by merger of SILA (Svensk Interkontinental Lufttraffik), DDL ( Det Danske Luftfartselskab) of Denmark and DNL (Det Norske Luftfartselskap) of Norway on 01Aug1946. Operations started on 17/Sep/1946. Initially it was known as OSAS was concerned only with trans-atlantic operations. operations started on 17/Sep/1946. The partners then created ESAS in 1948 with the merger of AB Aerotransport to handle the European operations and in 1941 the airlines were merged to form the current airline. The intercontinental routes of Braathens SAFE were added just before the merger. Absorbed LINJEFLYG in 1993 and BRAATHENS IN 2001. Intergrated SAS NORGE into mainline in Oct2009
