Scottish European Airways (originally known as Scottish Executive Airways)was incorporated in Edinburgh in the spring of 1984. Although it had hoped to begin flying in 1985, operations did not actually commence until it obtained the operating authority of failed Chieftain Airways in early 1988. The carrier inaugurated services from Glasgow Airport to Frankfurt and Brussels in 1989. In 1990, its license was suspended and aircraft were impounded
