SA Express was founded on 24Apr1994 and operations started the same day as South African Express. Rebranded on 02Dec2009. Forced to suspend operations on 30Apr2016 but restarted. The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) revoked South African Express’s Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) on 25May2018 because of safety issues. SACAA reinstated the airline’s AMO on 22Jun2018 and the AOC reinstated in Jul2018. The carrier restarted operations on 23Aug2018. SA Express looks set to be liquidated after the bankrupt carrier’s business rescue practitioners (BRP) failed in Mar2020. SA Express was placed into provisional liquidation 28Apr2020
