♦ Ryanair was founded in 1984 as Danren Enterprises by Christopher Ryan, Liam Lonergan and Irish businessman Tony Ryan, who gave the company its namesake. The airline was renamed shortly thereafter and operations started on 08Jul1985. In Apr2003, Ryanair acquired its ailing competitor Buzz from KLM
