Pacific Aerial Transport was founded by Ray Parer. Merged with W.R. Carpenter & Co (Aerial Service), to form Mandated Airlines
[ – On 30Sep1936, W.R. Carpenter & Co (Aerial Service) merged with Pacific Aerial Transport, to form Mandated Airlines, based at Salamaua. From Feb1942 until Jan1946, Mandated Airlines ceased operations, because of the war situation. A number of its aircraft were destroyed by enemy action. On 28Aug1946, Mandated Airlines resumed scheduled operations; the 1st civilian operator to do so in PNG after the war. On 07May1948, Island Airways. was absorbed into Mandated. On 01Apr1960 Gibbes Sepik Airways and Madang Air Services formally ceased to exist, when they were fully absorbed into Mandated Airlines. Ansett purchased Mandated Airlines on 18Jan1961 and renamed it Ansett-MAL. Ansett-MAL was formed in Jan1960 when Ansett acquired Mandated Airlines. The airline was renamed to Ansett PNG in 1968. Papuan Airlines was taken over by Ansett Airlines of Papua New Guinea in Jul1970. The airline ceased operations in 1973]
