Nigeria Air

♦  Nigeria Air was be launched in Dec2018 as the future national carrier. But only two months after the official announcement, the Nigerian government has decided to bury its plans. In early 2021 the Government decided to let the project go ahead using private investment with Government providing financial guarantees. The Nigerian Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered a temporary freeze on the establishment of Nigeria Air, pending a further court hearing. Nigeria Air expected to be issued its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) within Feb2023. On 28May2023, the NCAA denied the national carrier the AOC required to begin commercial service but its certification is to resume in late 3Q23. Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation has suspended the launch of Nigeria Air until transparency issues are resolved.
