[AIRLINES of SOUTH AUSTRALIA was formed in 1927 as New Guinea Gold No Liability with a DH37 biplane called ‘Old Faithful’. It was to support the mining boom of that time at the new gold mines in the Mandated territory of New Guinea. Renamed to GUINEA AIRWAYS after a Mining Ordanance decreed ‘no liability’ companies could not operate. Acquired HATS in the 1930s. Purchased by Ansett-ANA and renamed to AIRLINES of SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Renamed to ANSETT AIRLINES of SOUTH AUSTRALIA in 1964 and then to the final name in 1981. Ceased operating in 1986]
