♦ Montford R. and William R. Fischer organised Galion Commuter Service at the north central Ohio community of Galion in 1951. Located at Galion’s airport, it is the air transport division of their three-year-old FBO, Shelby Sky Haven, and is to provide thrice-daily roundtrip, Stinson 108 service to nearby Marion and on to Mansfield and Cleveland. In 1957, elements of both the FBO and airline name is given to a new holding company, GCS (the initials of Galion, Shelby, and the nearby town of Crestline), GCS Airlines. By 1963, the carrier had adopted the Fischer Brothers name and was flying the deHavilland Dove on its Ohio shuttle service. And in 1969, FBA was inaugurated into the Allegheny Commuter network. In 1987 Midway Airlines purchased commuter air carrier Fischer Brothers Aviation based in Galion, Ohio, and moved the entire operation to Springfield, Illinois, renaming it Midway Commuter. The carrier was officially founded on 27Apr1987, starting operations on 15Jun1987 and ceased operations on 01Jun1991
