Mexicana was founded in 1921 by William Lantie Mallory and George Rihl as Compañía Mexicana de Aviación, a competitor to CMTA. They acquired the latter’s assets in 1924. It was the world’s 4th oldest airline. Had ATSA (Aero Transportes SA) merge in in 1952 and took over TAMSA in 1960. Aero Libertad merged with Mexicana in 1992. Ceased operations on 28Aug2010
