Malaysian Airlines was formed on 16Sep1963 & became Malaysian-Singapore Airlines
– [MAS was formed as WEARNES AIR SERVICES in 1937 by Straits Steamship and continued services until 1941. MALAYAN AIRWAYS was formed out of the ashes and commenced operations in 1947. Renamed to MALAYSIA AIRLINES in 1963 after the new state of Malaysia was formed. The airline was then renamed to MSA (Malaysia-Singapore Airlines) in 1967 and restructured into the 2 separate airlines. MALAYSIAN AIRLINES BERHAD was registered in 1971 after the ending of MSA, (SIA being the other one) with operations beginning on 01Oct1972. The present name of MAS was adopted on 15Oct1987.
