Air Jamahiriya was a charter airline for the oil industry that was renamed from Light Air Transport & Technical Service
[ – Libyan Airlines was founded in 1964 and started operations in 15Aug1965 as Royal Libyan Airlines. It was shortly after renamed to Kingdom of Libya Airlines. Also in 1964, Libavia and United Libyan Airlines (i) were acquired on the same day. The name Libyan Arab Airlines (Jamahiriya Libyan Arab Airlines) was adopted in 1969 after the monarchy was overthrown. In 1979, a cargo subsidiary named Libyan Arab Air Cargo was set up. Air Jamahiriya was merged into Libyan Arab Airlines in 2001. Renamed to Libyan Airlines in 2006. All flight operations were terminated on 17Mar2011.
