LIAT was founded in 1974 as the successor to Leeward Islands Air Transport Services (founded on 20Oct1956). Started operations as LIAT on 20Sep1974. Absorbed 4 Island Air Services in 1986. LIAT also purchased Caribbean Star Airlines on the 24Oct2007. On 27Jun2020, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda announced that Caribbean airline LIAT would be liquidated following a series of unsuccessful months due to COVID-19
