Laurentian Air Services was founded on 19Jun1936 by two Ottawa aviation enthusiasts, A. Barnet Maclaren and Walter Deisher, as a bushpilot company with Grumman Goose and DHC-2 aircraft. In the early post-war years, the company expanded its presence north of Ottawa and Montreal and by 1952 had opened a new base at Manawaki, Quebec. To service isolated northern areas more efficiently it created Air Schefferville in 1981, flying Twin Otters. It ended operations in 1998 but continued in 1981 as Air Schefferville. Both Laurentian Air and Air Schefferville were officially dissolved on 02Feb2004
