Kilwa Air

♦ In 2005, Kilwa Air established its corporate presence in Tanzania and began operating contract flights. By Sep2005, it started executing cross-border cargo loops using wet-leased aircraft registered out of South Africa. During a high-profile, multi-airline public licensing renewal hearing held by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority in May2009, representatives from both Kilwa Air of Tanzania and Kilwa Air (U) of Uganda fail to appear to defend or renew their Air Services Licenses. Having abandoned its certificates and faced with shifting mining transport contracts, the carrier quietly ceased all operations shortly thereafter
