Jonika Airlines♦ Jonian Airways (Ionian Airways) was founded in the mid-1971 in Corfu, by a travel agency, to transport tourists who would end up at the city’s casino. The company took delivery in Nov1971 of an a Convair CV-880-22M, and began operating flights mainly Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Paris and Shannon to Corfu in Apr1972. By Oct1972 the company name on the fuselage was covered with a sticker ♦
