♦ Invicta International Airlines was founded in Nov1964. The first revenue flight took place on 20Mar1965. For the early years of its existence, the airline solely operated cargo flights with its DC-4 fleet from its base at Manston Airport in Kent. It was announced on 03Jan1969 that Invicta was to merge with British Midland, effective 18Mar1969 it merged with BMA, however, the merger proved unsuccessful just a few months later, and Invicta’s founder, Hugh Kennard, brought back its airline under the name of Invicta Airways in 1969.
