International Airlines had tried to operate a Western Air Express mail route between Croydon, Southampton, Portsmouth and Plymouth starting on 28Aug1933 but unfortunately the attempt failed and its assets were purchased by Provincial Airways

[ – Provincial Airways was formed on the 12Oct1933 when it took over the assets of International Airlines (1933 – 1933). It tried to emulate Internationals’ mail route but in the end it only operated Croydon – Plymouth with a stop at Southampton, starting in Nov1933. Provincial Airways increased services in 1934 and 1935 to include Croydon – Penzance via several cities. Unfortunately the carrier ceased operations due to financial reasons on 10Dec1935 ]
