♦ Hawaiian Airlines was founded on 30Jan1929 and began operations on 06Oct1929 as Inter-Island Airways by the Inter-Island Steam Navigation Company. Renamed on 01Oct1941. n 1985, Hawaiian Air began its first scheduled service to the U.S. mainland when it introduced the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar service between Honolulu and Los Angeles
