[ – Vietnam Airlines was founded on 15Jan1956 under the name Vietnam Civil Aviation, by the North Vietnamese government. It started operations on 30/Jun/1956. Also after the Vietnam war (1976), the carrier was renamed to Hang Khong Vietnam (General Department of Civil Aviation in Vietnam). 1993 heralded the completion of a restructuring process that saw it become Vietnam’s state-owned flag carrier with the name of Vietnam Airlines on 27May1995
