Frontier Airlines (i) was formed as a result of a merger of ARIZONA AIRWAYS , CHALLENGER AIRLINES and MONARCH AIR LINES. First operator of Convair CV.580 (1960). Merged with CENTRAL AIRLINES in 1967. People Express Airlines acquired Frontier on 05Oct1985. it ceased operations on 24Aug1986 & filed for bankruptcy on 28Aug1986. Both Frontier Airlines and People Express Airlines merged into Continental on 01Feb1987, along with New York Air and several commuter airline subsidiaries including Britt Airways and Provincetown-Boston Airlines (PBA)
