flyLAL–Lithuanian Airlines was established as a state-owned company on 20/Sep/1991 after the reorganisation of Aeroflot Lithuania division. It started charter flights on 15Feb1992 as Lietuvos avialinijos (Lithuanian Airlines). Renamed to FlyLAL–Lithuanian Airlines in 2005 after being purchased by LAL Investicijų Valdymas (LAL Investment Management), a wholly owned subsidiary of the FlyLal Group. In 2008, charter flight services were transferred to sister company FlyLal Charters, leaving only scheduled flights for FlyLal. The carrier suspended operations on 17/Jan/2009
