Emerald Air (i) was an Austin based regional carrier that was formed as Emerald Valley Airlines. By 1985, Emerald ceased operations primarily in Texas and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Recovered after bankruptcy and In 1991 BIA-COR Holdings Inc., acquired Emerald Air’s FAA and DOT operating certificate, along with Emerald’s three Douglas DC-9-14 aircraft; and with 2 other assets from bankrupt airlines formed the carrier Braniff International (ii)
[ – In 1990, Jeffrey Chodorow, Arthur Cohen, and Scot Spencer formed BNAir Inc., a vehicle specifically used to purchase the assets of Braniff Inc., including the name and trademark, from three bankruptcy auctions (including Braniff International Airways + Emerald Air (i)). With these assets, the group formed Braniff International (ii). Braniff International (ii) commenced operations on 01Jul1991 and ceased on 02Jul1992. This airline was not a legacy to earlier Braniffs although the name, logo and many ex-employees were used
