Dominion Aerial Exploration Company was founded by the former chief pilot for the Price Bros., Ltd. paper company, Harold S. Quigley in Autumn 1922. It was a nonscheduled company based at Roberval, in the Lac Saint-Jean region of Quebec. The airline performed forest survey and protection flights on behalf of the Canadian Air Board during the summer of 1923. During 1925 Quigley takes over the Trois-Rivieres facilities of Laurentide Air Service, Ltd. and undertakes exploration and transportation services in connection with a survey being made along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. The company was reorganised into Canadian Airways in 1926.
