In Oct1933, The ship owner Fred. Olsen & Co formed Det Norske Luftfartselskap, Fred. Olsen. Rudolf Olsen needed to get support from the shipping companies in West-Norway and asked “Det Bergenske Dampskibselskap A/S” (called “Bergenske”) to invest in DNL. It did, and the company became Det Norske Luftfartselskap, Fred. Olsen & Bergenske in Jan1935. Under German control, Det Norske Luftfartselskap, Fred Olsen & Bergenske A/S was allowed to reopen the air service Trondheim–Tromsø with still Norwegian registered aircraft and mixed Norwegian-German crews. In 1945 he lost his concession as the State wanted to start up a new airline. The State bought the company name and Det Norske Luftfartselskap, Fred. Olsen & Bergenske changed its name to Fred. Olsen Flyselskap (Fred. Olsen Air Transport)
