Deccan Airways was formed in 1945 & was 1 of 8 airlines nationalised to form Indian Airlines in 1953

– [INDIAN AIRLINES (Corporation) was formed in 1953 on the nationalisation of 8 Indian airlines (DECCAN AIRWAYS, AIRWAYS-INDIA, BHARAT AIRWAYS, HIMALAYAN AVIATION, KALINGA AIR LINES, INDIAN NATIONAL AIRWAYS, AIR INDIA and AIR SERVICES of INDIA. Took over VAYUDOOT in 1998. Renamed to just INDIAN in 2005 & merged into AIR INDIA on 26Feb2011]
