Crowley Airways

♦ Crowley Airways was formed as Crowley Stockden Airways in 1950 by Ray Stockden and Laurie Crowley. At some stage Laurie took over Ray Stockden’s share, and the company became Crowley Airways. Crowleys sold out to PANGA Airways in 1975

♦ Panga Airways ceased operating in 1977 and it’s operations taken over by Talair ♦

♦ Talair had its origins as Territory Airlines, founded in 1952 as a charter company. Territory Airlines was granted scheduled flight rights in 1968 from Goroka. Soon it was serving over 50 destinations in the territory. In 1971 it took over Sepik Air Charters and in 1975 took over MAC Air Charter. In 1975 the name was changed to Talair Tourist Airlines of Niugini and soon it took over Panga Air (1977). With financial difficulties mounting, on 25May1993 TALAIR ceased all flights and the aircraft were transferred to Flight West Airlines of Australia (…..^Alliance Airlines) ♦
