– [Condor was founded on 21Dec1955 as Deutsche Flugdiens & scheduled flight operations were launched on 29Mar1956 with a pilgrimage flight to Israel. On 25Oct1961, Deutsche Flugdienst took over its rival Condor-Luftreederei (which had been founded in 1957 by the Hamburg-based Oetker concern), subsequently changing its name to Condor Flugdienst. Integrated SUDFLUG in in 1993. In 1998, Condor Berlin was founded as a wholly owned subsidiary with headquarters at Berlin Tegel Airport & was renamed to Thomas Cook powered by Condor on 01Mar2003. On 23Jan2004, Condor became part of Thomas Cook AG and returned to the Condor brand name
