♦ Chieftain Airways was established by William Stevenson (who was chairman of the Scottish Transport Group and numerous other Scottish business interests) in Nov1986. The company operated two British Aerospace BAe (HS) 748-B2 aircraft. A budget airline flying services between Edinburgh and Glasgow with international flights to Brussels, Frankfurt and Hamburg. On 01May1967, daily roundtrips are introduced to Hamburg from London (LGW). Unable to achieve fiscal viability, the company is forced out of business at year’s end
