East Anglian Flying Services was founded in 1946 and scheduled services began in 1947, following the move to Southend (Rochford) Airport earlier that year, while inclusive tour (IT) charter flights started in 1948. Renamed to Channel Airways on 29Oct1962. Southend-based independent airline Tradair equipped with Vickers Vikings became a wholly owned subsidiary of Channel Airways on 31 December 1962. It operated last flight on 29Feb1972 and went into receivership after running into financial difficulties
