Capitol Air (ii) began operating flights to Chicago Midways and Milwaukee in Dec1993 from the St. Paul Downtown Airport(STP) near Minneapolis rather than the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport(MSP) which was used for all commercial service in the area at the time. Air LA bought the airline in Jan1995 and continued the STP-based flying with their own aircraft for a few months until Air LA folded in Sep1995
[ – AIR LA was founded as a charter airline, Greater Pacific Airways in Dec1979. Began scheduled regional and cargo services operating Los Angeles-Mexico using Embraer Bandeirante aircraft in 1982 and was renamed. Merged with Air Resort Airlines (1982?-1990) but continued under it’s own name. In early 1995 Air L.A. also bought St. Paul, MN based Capitol Air. The airline had planned to move its headquarters to St. Paul, but instead purchased Texas-based Conquest Airlines in Jul1995. In Sep1995 the west coast route system was shut down as operations were combined into Conquest. The new owners terminated Conquest’s operations on 28Jul1997 ]
