[ – Thomas and Paul Braniff started a new airline named Braniff Airways in Nov1930 and began operations on 13/Nov/1930. Flew Tulsa-Oklahoma-Wichita using Locheed Vegas. Moved to Love Field in 1934. Flew CAM 9 (Chicago-Dallas) in 1934 and CAM 15 (Dallas-Houston-Brownsville) in 1935. In Jan1935, Braniff bought the Dallas-based Long and Harman Air Lines and in 1936, Braniff Airways then took over Bowen Air Lines, which was headquartered at Meacham Field in Fort Worth. It was then renamed to Braniff International Airways in 1948. After months of negotiations Braniff acquired Mid-Continent Airlines a small Kansas City-based trunk line on 16Aug1952. Braniff International Airways was then renamed to Braniff International in 1965. In 1967 Braniff, purchased Pan American-Grace Airways (known as Panagra) from shareholders of Pan American World Airways and W.R. Grace, increasing its presence in South America. The merger was effective on 01Feb1967. The carrier was renamed to Braniff International (i) and it operated until 12May1982
