Boston and Maine Airways began operations 01Aug1931 on a Boston- Portland–Bangor route with Pan American Airways providing equipment and management (Started with mail route FAM 12). Merged with CENTRAL VERMONT AIRWAYS to form BOSTON MAINE-CENTRAL AIRWAYS. This was renamed to NORTHEAST AIRLINES in 1940
