Borneo Airways was renamed from Sabah Airways in 1957. Malaysian Airways absorbed Borneo Airways on 01Apr1965

The airline was then renamed to MSA (Malaysia-Singapore Airlines) in 1967 and restructured into the 2 separate airlines. MALAYSIAN AIRLINES BERHAD was registered in 1971 after the ending of MSA, (SIA being the other one) with operations beginning on 01Oct1972. The present name of MAS was adopted on 15Oct1987.
