Bek Air was rebranded from Berkut Air (1999-2011). It was in the process of rebranding itself as Halyk Air with the transition expected to be completed by the end of the 2016 but unfortunately it did not launch operations. It started operations as Bek Air in 2011. The Civil Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (CAAKZ) has grounded Bek Air in the wake of the crash of one of its ten Fokker 100s on 27/Dec/2019. On 17Apr2020, the AAK, citing the airline’s failure to correct safety violations, recalled Bek Air’s air operator’s certificate and the airworthiness certificates of its remaining Fokker 100 aircraft, stating that the company must undergo full certification anew before conducting airline operations
