
Carnival Air Lines was formed in 1984 in Las Vegas as PIA (Pacific Interstate Airlines). Renamed in 1985 to Pacific Inter Air in anticipation of being awarded a scheduled services license. Renamed again, this time to Bahamas Express and flew from the US East Coast to Freeport in the Bahamas. In 1988 the carrier was purchased by Carnival Cruise Line and renamed to Majestic Air.
