Avianova was formed in Dec1986 and began operations in Aug1987. Acquired Aliblu in 1990. On 01/Nov/1996, Avianova, the Alitalia group subsidiary, was renamed Alitalia Team and became the low cost carrier of the group

On 10Oct2020, the Italian government signed a decree to allow to reorganize the airline as Alitalia – Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA)
