♦ American Central Airlines was founded by Terry Hudik and Mike Gedmin as Tri-State Flite Services operating as Mid-Continent Airlines and started operations in Apr1980. American Central Airlines was incorporated and renamed on 31Mar1982. The carrier suspended all operations on 25Jul1985 after a plan calling for the Dubuque-based carrier to be purchased by Comair fell through. Filed for bankruptcy in 1985 and ceased operations. It was officially dissolved on 25Mar1987. During its history, American Central operated Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante and Piper Navajo Chieftain aircraft
