Amberair was originally going to be called Diamond Airways but British Midland raised a legal objection to it shortly before launch due to infringement of its Diamond Service trademark at the time. Diamond Airways changed its name about a month before starting operations and for its short life, became Amberair. Acquired by Paramount Airways

Operations started on 01/May/1987 from Bristol Lulsgate to Malaga and Tenerife. and ceased in Nov1989. Acquired Amberair in 1988. The airline entered receivership and ceased operations in Nov1989. The company was finally wound up in 1995 after lengthy legal battles with ex-employees over pension benefits and unpaid wages
