Alisarda was set up by Prince Karim al-Hussayn Aga on 29Mar1963 and scheduled operations started 30Jun1964
[ – Alisarda was founded on 29Mar1963 by Prince Karim al-Hussain Aga Khan, with the intent to promote tourism in Sardinia. Scheduled operations started on 30Jun1964. Renamed to Meridiana (i) in 03May1991. On 28Feb2010, Meridiana (i) and Eurofly merged to create Italy’s second biggest airline, Meridiana Fly. From Apr2013, Air Italy (ii) operated entirely on behalf of Meridiana using their corporate design. On 19Feb2018, the carrier was renamed from Meridiana after the acquisition of the former charter airline Air Italy (ii) (which operated from 2005-2018, since 2013 operated under the Meridiana Brand). Air Italy (iii) ceased all operations as of 11Feb2020
