Alaska-Washington Airways was formed by Joseph L Carmen Jr, a Seattle furniture manufacturer and flight school operator. On 15Apr1929, Pilot Anscel Eckman flew nonstop from Lake Union to Juneau, a distance of 940miles. The flight took a little over seven hours. Pioneer aviator Robert “Bob” Ellis was the navigator and Jack Halloran was the mechanic. Upon receiving the news that they had arrived safely in Juneau, Alaska-Washington Airways was formed. Acquired Inter Citiair Express in 1930 Purchased by Seattle-Wenatchee-Yakima Airways in 1930
