AirTran

AIRTRAN was formed as CONQUEST SUN AIRLINES in 1993. Renamed to AIRTRAN AIRWAYS and then to AIRTRAN. VALUJET merged in in 1997. First operator of the B717 in 1999. AirTran operated its last flight and merged into Southwest Airlines on 28Dec2014
[ – Southwest Airlines (ii) was incorporated by Herb Kelleher and Rollin King on 15Mar1967 as Air Southwest. Renamed on 29Mar1971 and began operations on 18Jun1971. Took over MUSE AIR on 25Jun1985 with it continuing to operate as a separate airline until 13Feb1986 when its name changed to TranStar. Operated the first B737-300 revenue flight in 1984. Acquired MORRIS AIR in 1994. Absorbed AirTran in 2012. Launch customer for B737-700
