Bonanza Air Lines got CAB approval to merge with Pacific Air Lines and West Coast Airlines to form Air West on 17Apr1968. Completed on 01Jul1968. The SFO based regional airline was formed by amalgamation of BONANZA AIR LINES, PACIFIC AIR LINES and WEST COAST AIRLINES. Taken over by Howard Hughes and renamed to HUGHES AIRWEST in 1970. AIR WEST was acquired by REPUBLIC AIRLINES in 1980 and into NORTHWEST ORIENT

[ – NORTHWEST AIRLINES was founded in 1926 as NORTHWEST AIRWAYS to transport mail between Minneapolis/St Paul and Chicago. Acquired CHARLES DICKENSON in 1926 and NORTHERN AIR TRANSPORT in 1934. Reorganised in 1934 and renamed to NORTHWEST AIRLINES. Renamed again in 1950 to NORTHWEST ORIENT to reflect it’s new far-east routes. REPUBLIC AIRLINES merged in 1986. Renamed to current name in 1989. Fully integrated into DELTA in 2010]

[ – Delta Air Lines first airmail flight was on 04Jul1934 and its first commercial flight on 17Jul1943. Delta Air Lines was founded on 30May1924 as Huff Daland Dusters as the world”s first crop dusting company. Started passenger services as Delta Air Service (first flight was on 17Jun1929). Acquired Flying Fox Services in 1929. Name was changed to Delta Air Corporation in 1934 and renamed again in 1934 to present name. Merged with Chicago & Southern Air Lines in 1953 & renamed to Delta C&S until 1955, Absorbed Northeast Airlines in 1972 & Western Airlines in 1986. Had Northwest Airlines integrate in in 2010. Joint first operator of DC8 in 1959 with UAL. First operator of CV880 in 1960, DC9 in 1965, MD88 in1988 and MD90 in 1995. Launch operator for B767-400 in 2000 along with Continental Air Lines
